World of Tanks is a cult MMO game dedicated to armored machines that has won the affection of players all over the world
Critically acclaimed as the reference point in the genre by the tank’s enthusiasts community around the world, World of Tanks is a free to play MMO game developed and published by the Belarusan/Cypriot company Wargaming.net.
The game focuses on a PVP gameplay mechanics, in which players can compete against each other, choosing their favourite armored vehicle from a huge database from early to mid-20th century. Obviously, vehicles may belong to different classes which can be light, medium, heavy, tank destroyer or self-propelled gun, each one with their own specific set of pro and cons ready to be exploited.
After a vehicle is chosen, this is placed on a random map and ready to face its opponents. Players have the ability to fully control tank’s movements, as well as any kind of fire attack and communicate with allies.
In this case, they have the choice to text or use a more comfortable voice chat, included in the options.
World of Tanks Game Modes:
World of Tanks also features a good number of game modes, with six primary type of battles to choose from:
- Random battles
- Team-training battles
- Tank-company battles
- Team battles
- Stronghold battles
- Special battles
Random battles also include the “Platoons” option, a sort of cooperative mode in which players are put together in group of 2 or 3 elements, within the same team.
Game Modes feature sub-mission to be completed to unlock different kind of rewards.
As mentioned above, World of Tanks’ core philosophy is mainly free-to-play, although, in the beginning, players had the chance to pay an additional fee to unlock premium features.
Fortunately enough and later on, Wargaming decided to drop any kind of “Pay-to-Win” microtransaction, in order to provide a better gaming experience and a more fair and balanced model to the players’ community. At the moment, the money spent is just for aesthetic customizations and doesn’t give any kind of advantage in term of playability.
Originally released for PC in 2010, World of Tanks has been converted and is now available, for Xbox One and Playstation 4.
